Establish Your Character: Exploring Self-Identity through Photography
Ages: 12-16
Learn Photoshop and the rules of photography as you take a self-portrait that truly reflects who you are! Work with The Art Effect to bring out and highlight your identity in an image, accentuating it with text that shows in your own words what makes you unique.Workshop Description:
Like Humans of New York? You’ll love this workshop, where teens learn Photography 101 and Adobe Photoshop to explore expressions of their identities. We’ll delve into how we define ourselves internally, how people make assumptions about us based on appearances, and how we can shape our external identity through posture, gesture, clothing, hair, etc. We’ll use cameras to take photos, then digitally edit the photos to superimpose text over the images, allowing youth to describe in their own words the structure and roots of their identity.Generously supported by a grant from the Stewart's Foundation.
