Preschool Story HourPreschool Story Hour – Preschool Story Hour taps into the boundless energy of three to five-year-olds to get your child involved in this interactive story time. This program will engage your children with stories, finger plays and songs and encourage them to learn sounds, letter recognition, and new words as they grow into pre-readers. Each program is followed by a hands-on craft and snacks. Read to ZoeyRead to Zoey – Zoey, our friend and trained therapy dog visits and offers young readers a chance to increase their confidence in reading by spending time with a certified therapy dog in a relaxing, stress-free environment. Candidate petitions for the position of library trustee are now available at the Town of Ulster Public Library, 860 Ulster Ave. There are two (2) seats for 3 year terms up for election. The election takes place Thursday, Sept.6th at the library.
Anyone who is a resident of the Town of Ulster is eligible to run. Petitions must be signed by at least 25 Town of Ulster residents who are registered to vote in the town. Petitions must be returned to the library by 5 p.m. August 6, 2018 in order to be eligible for the September ballot.
Library trustees attend at least one board meeting a month and are required to serve on one or more committees and attend at least one training annually. The role of a library trustee is to set policy for operation of the public library, and to oversee the fiscal health of the organization.
The current Board of Trustees will hold a public hearing on the proposed budget and a “Meet and Greet the Candidates Night” on Monday, Aug. 27 from 6-6:30 p.m. at the library.

Trustee Election and Budget VoteTrustee Election and Budget Vote – ANNUAL ELECTION BUDGET VOTE will be held at the Town of Ulster Public Library, 860 Ulster Ave, Kingston, NY on Thursday, September 6, 2018 between the hours of 2 pm and 8 pm. The propositions up for a vote are the 2019 budget and the election of (2) two trustees seats for three (3) year terms up for election. Candidate Bruce Engholm, nominated by petition, seeks a position on the board. Ballots will have a space for write-ins. The proposed budget calls for $316,368 in tax revenue to support the operation of the Town of Ulster Library in 2019, an increase of 4% ($12,168) from 2018. For these unavailable to vote on Thursday, Sept. 6th, absentee ballot applications are available at the library. All ballots must be returned, sealed in person or by mail by 8 pm on the day of the vote September 6.
