Susan Stessin-Cohn will present her book In Defiance: Runaways from Slavery in New York’s Hudson River Valley 1735-1831, which documents hundreds of fugitive slaves in the Hudson River Valley in the 18th and 19th centuries through reproductions and transcriptions of archival materials.
